Our 5th year of preserving broadcast audio day by day.

Remembering Tom…by Dr. Bob Ahrens

Tom Phillips died unexpectedly 11 years ago, February 4, 2001.  He was a long time member of the Atlanta/Athens Baba community and served as the Meher Baba group coordinator during the last few years he lived. Tom was a beloved figure, good friend to many, eclectic, humorous, a sure source of information about almost anything (but especially music of any genre), idiosyncratic, generous and naturally self-sacrificing.  And he loved Meher Baba with all his heart.  We miss you Tom!

Editor’s note: Cherished friend, mentor and wise far, far beyond the precious few years we had the pleasure of being in his company.

Tom Phillips not only talked the talk; he walked this walk:

“Be pure and simple, and love all because all are one. Live a sincere life; be natural, and be honest with yourself.

Honesty will guard you against false modesty and will give you the strength of true humility. Spare no pains to help others. Seek no other reward than the gift of Divine Love.” (Meher Baba)

***  Most gracious acknowledgement:

“Begin the Beguine”, performed by Ella Fitzgerald,

written by Cole Porter, arranged and conducted by Buddy Bregman

and his orchestra, Verve Records.
